Using photography, video, and written language, Jazmine Harris deconstructs and reconstructs narratives about city people and places. Emphasizing both the beauty and failure of metropolises, Harris explores the semantic relationship and dichotomy between the divestment of communities and the forming of third spaces (i.e. stoop). Through her multi-channel narratives, Harris not only acknowledges the past in an attempt to understand the present, but she proposes questions to alter the way history is conveyed in the future.
Harris received her BS in Business Administration/Economics from Florida A&M University (2014), and her MFA in Visual Art from the University of Chicago (2019).
