Cristen Leifheit creates moving image works rooted in different forms of animation. She moves between stop motion, time-lapse, found footage, and staged action to frame human experiences of the landscape through media. Leifheit utilizes characters like fruit, potatoes, algae, crystals, and insects to generate narratives which question the boundaries between body and environment, information and experience, immobility and urgency.
Cristen Leifheit completed her MFA from the Department of Visual Arts at University of Chicago and BFA in Photography at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
